Established from an estate gift from Ms. Anne Hotchkiss in 1986 to provide for the continuing education of clergy after ordination. This includes funding for studying for advance degrees, participation in sabbatical programs, attendance at workshops, etc.
All active clergy are eligible to apply for these funds.
The ongoing formation of clergy is coordinated by Vicar General, the Director of Ongoing Formation of Clergy, and the Bishop. They are in the best place to prioritize the needs for funding. WCMF will forward applications to the Vicar General for consideration and prioritization in advance of the WCMF Grants Committee meeting.
WCMF will inform the grant applicants of the decision made regarding your request and will disburse grants from the Hotchkiss Continuing Education Endowment during our regular grant cycle in which dispersments are sent in January and July each year.
Special requests that arise outside of this cycle will be honored if funds are available and with the approval of the Bishop.
Consistent with the requirements of WCMF, these funds are not to be used as reimbursements for expenses already incurred for previously attended workshops, programs, or sabbaticals.
